Leading Financial Institution seeks motivated analytical individual to manage their dynamic actuarial team. This role is long term insurance industry.  As such, the person must be responsible for determining an implementing the full insurance risk strategy and this will ensure the company complies with the SAM legislation. The individual will need to execute all necessary changes in business to ensure that the company complies with the new governances. Full Actuarial certification with exposure to SAM Solvency II essential.

As  such all activity will take place in this context:

  • Understanding internal rating for capital adequacy purposes.
  • Defining the output required from the internal capital model together with the validation and governance thereof
  • Understanding of new risk management policies.
  • Documenting of new risk management policies.
  • Revision of current risk management policies where applicable
  • Understanding IRB Approaches and systems.
  • Setting and monitoring risk tolerances and risk appetites
  • Embedding risk management within daily activities of the business
  • Drafting monthly and quarterly risk reporting to all stakeholders
  • Setting up of and monitoring of financial indicator data and dashboards
  • Integration of the risk management function with the corporate actuarial function
  • Setting up, review and monitoring of the Companies Own Risk Self- Assessment Process and the Use Test

Background work experience

  • 5 + Years Risk Management Experience within the life industry
  • Qualified Actuary
  • Experience in Life Insurance
  • Strong skills in Word, Excel, Access, SQL
  • SAM Solvency II

Salary:

Basic: R 600 K to R 900 K per annum (dependent on experience and proven track record). More senior candidates can also apply.
